Whole Wheat French Loaf Bread
Ingredients
- 6 cups of whole wheat flour
- 2 1/2 cups of water (115°F)
- 2 tablespoons of dry instant yeast
- 1/4 cup of granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon of salt
- 1 tablespoon of olive oil
Directions
Warm up water to 115°F. Once it reaches temperature, add sugar and yeast. Let sit for 10 to 15 minutes in a warm area.
Whisk in olive oil. In a separate, medium sided mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Slowly add wet ingredients to dry ingredients. After the dough begins to form, lightly flour a working surface/ countertop. Knead dough for 3 to 5 minutes. Completely coat a metal mixing bowl with oil olive. Place dough ball into the bowl and cover with a towel. Let dough sit for about 30 minutes or until it doubles in size.
Once dough is ready, uncover and punch dough down. On a lightly floured surface, knead dough to release all air pockets. Form the dough into a loaf, making sure to fold corners underneath to ensure that the bread cooks evenly. Place dough loaf into lightly oiled covered loaf pan. Score Let sit for 30 minutes in a warm area to let dough double in size. Preheat oven to 400°F. When dough is ready, place in oven for 18 to 20 minutes.
Let cool, slice, and serve.
